Tarangire National Park (The Giants)

Land of the Giants: If you love elephants, this is your park. In the dry season, thousands of elephants migrate to the Tarangire River, scratching for water in the dry bed. You can see herds of up to 300 at a time.

The Tree of Life: The landscape is dotted with the alien-looking Baobab trees. These massive succulents can live for thousands of years and dwarf the safari vehicles driving beneath them.

Birdwatcher’s Paradise: Tarangire has over 550 bird species, the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world. From stocking-thighed ostriches to colorful lovebirds, it’s a visual feast.

A Quieter Safari: Unlike the crowded Ngorongoro, Tarangire feels wild and remote. You often have the sightings all to yourself.
