Ngorongoro Crater (The Wonder)

A Geological Marvel: Imagine a safari inside a bowl. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera. Because the walls are so steep, the animals rarely leave, creating a unique “fishbowl” effect with the highest density of wildlife in Africa.

The Black Rhino: If you want to complete the “Big 5,” this is your best chance. The crater is one of the last strongholds for the endangered Black Rhino, which can often be seen grazing on the open floor.

The Lake Magadi: In the center of the crater lies a soda lake often turned pink by thousands of flamingos. It makes for one of the most spectacular photos in Africa.

Important Note: It gets cold on the crater rim! Bring a warm jacket for the morning descent.
