The Zanzibar Red Colobus Monkey is an endangered species found only on this main island. Unlike most monkeys, they are not shy. You can walk within meters of them as they play, groom, and jump between the trees. - The Mangrove Boardwalk:
After the forest, the tour takes you on a wooden boardwalk that cuts through the massive mangrove swamp. It’s a fascinating ecosystem where trees grow in salt water, acting as the nursery for the ocean’s fish. - The “Pete” Butterflies:
Many tours include a stop at the nearby Zanzibar Butterfly Centre, a community project that farms spectacular indigenous butterflies. - What to wear:
